A young street magician is left to take care of his little sister after his mother's passing and turns to drug dealing in the Los Angeles party scene to keep a roof over their heads. When he gets into trouble with his supplier, his sister is kidnapped and he is forced to rely on both his sleight of hand and brilliant mind to save her。警员林文刚（刘兆铭饰）手下有两名得力干将韦志豪（吴镇宇饰）和程军（黄秋生饰），虽然这两人的个性迥异，做事的风格也天差地别，但是他们相处默契，宛如两块拼图一样的天衣无缝。韦志豪和程军双双爱上了林文刚的女儿林静（黎美娴饰），然而程军自觉的自己的条件步入韦志豪，于是选择了退出这段三角恋情。 之后，程军邂逅了名为方宝儿（林其欣饰）的心理医生，虽然两人短暂的交往过一段时间，但很快方宝儿就发现程军的心里还是忘不了林静。程军的表妹李笑妹（姚正菁饰）也痴痴的爱着自己的表哥，可是也遭到了程军的冷静拒绝。。
